Outside Love Pt.2
This song took way too long to drop. I've had this song in my files for over a year, and every time I see Rome, I've been telling him that he needs to release it.
Literally, everybody who I've shown this song to loves it. I've shared it with a bunch of people, and they all have the same reaction: "Wow, this is amazing." I think there's something beautiful about the subject matter, the way he conveys it, and his delivery. Not many people in the underground scene are making music with this type of sound. It's like a mix of R&B and grungy love music, but it's something that definitely opens your heart and mind to the things that have happened in your past.
This is probably one of the most heartfelt songs I've heard in a long time. You know, a lot of people don't really like to talk about relationship pains or things that may have happened in their past relationships, and how that affects them, but I feel like this song is a good coping mechanism for people who are going through something with a partner or who have experienced similar things. It just makes you appreciate it in a different light.
One of my favorite parts about this song is the beat. There's just something magical about it. It's very relaxed yet also simple and complex. It complements Rome's voice very well. I think the chimes and piano add to the heartfelt storytelling; it makes you feel as if you're almost in a dreamlike state when you're listening to the song because it kind of teleports you to situations that you may have faced in your life that are very similar to what Rome is talking about in the song. I also really enjoy the part towards the end where Rome slows down his chorus, and the vocal and beat kind of expose themselves. I think that's just a chef's kiss to the song; it adds so much emotion because it's Rome singing about being scared to send that text and talk to the girl, but in the background, you can hear this feminine vocal singing it. You can't make out what she's saying, but it's evident, and I think you can relate it to that situation as a whole because often when you're heartbroken or thinking about texting your ex, you sort of have those remnants of women in the back of your mind. They're not really there, so you can't really figure out what they're saying or thinking, and that's probably one of the hardest things.
All in all, if you're looking for good music and want to try something new, I definitely suggest that you take a listen to "Outside Love Pt.2" by Rome NO.9. The song will be linked down below!
